Blog

Welcome to the ResponseAbility blog, where we pose questions and discuss the cutting edge issues facing Britain and the wider world from a distinctly Jewish perspective.

Background

Headed up by Director Abigail Morris, ResponseAbility has already produced some excellent and innovative events. These have been cross communal and well attended, with high level speakers and attendees creating stimulating and productive discussions.

In 2009, ResponseAbility joined together with RenéCassin, the Human Rights Organisation, to form the Jewish consultation with the Ministry of Justice for the proposed British Bill of Rights. We ran events, bringing together a unique mix of Jewish practitioners who are experts in their particular fields, such as Jewish educationalists and theorists. For example, a discussion on equality included orthodox and progressive rabbonim, heads of academic Jewish charities, a government minister, academics, civil servants and human rights lawyers.

We have forged interesting partnerships - including ones with the Ministry of Justice, the Jewish human rights organisation RenéCassin, the American environmental group Hazon, the interfaith group Faith in London Economy and Melton, Jewish adult education.

ResponseAbility goes into 2010 with a focus on its theme for the next year, ‘to life – L’Chaim
